3D World, the world's best-selling monthly magazine for CG artists. Every issue features brand-new tutorials written by working professional artists, with hours of video training and tutorial files to download. Discover new ways to create CG content for animation, movies, arch-viz and games.

befores & afters is a brand-new visual effects and animation online magazine–and now print and digital edition publication and podcast destination!–from visual effects and animation journalist Ian Failes.

Tommy Martin and James Price (JP) met in 2015 when Tommy was running Band, Bristol’s most successful independent film studios. With his background as a DP and director, Tommy produced and directed countless commercials and films over Band’s 10 year history, including some pioneering virtual productions during and post covid.

Enter JP. With an extensive background across Art and FX departments, JP predominantly worked as a compositor for film and TV with regular forays into the practical side of FX work, from motion control and animatronic action prop builds to VFX Supervisor roles.

Concerned that the proliferation of CG solutions in the industry was leading to a loss of knowledge sharing around practical FX methodology, they harnessed their mutual adoration of in-camera FX techniques and their empty studio (thanks covid) and started InCamera, a Youtube channel that celebrates and demonstrates the in-camera approach to VFX work.

With big brand commercials, shorts and feature films already under their belt it was time… for Punkworks!
